Description

Once, the mansion included an ancient olive-mill and and an ancient watermill, that were used by the local lords. Many people from the nearby villages came here to crush olives, grains and chestnuts . They produced a very high quality oil, that same oil is still produced locally today. Chestnuts were one of the most important nourishments in those times, just like wheat and corn.

Today, thanks to a careful restoration, the mills have been turned into a very large and comfortable house with every modern comfort, while still preserving the rural appearance that has always characterized La Stregaia throughout the ages.

The first historical records of the property go back to the beginning of 1600's, and the acres that surround La Stregaia have been left intact since then. Near the house there are many olive-trees, fruit trees , an old chestnut grove and a magical stream with water falls.

La Stregaia is a comfortable, three-storey, mansion of historical interest that gives the name to the whole property.

Two very large halls, overlooked by a large living room with a balcony, reflect the true spirit of La Stregaia: a place rich in charm and fine details where our guest will relax comfortably.

Three bedrooms and three bathrooms, are suitable to receive six people at the maximum. The master bedroom has a private bathroom and a nice, perfectly functional fireplace.

The house has a very large traditional kitchen, fully equipped with modern accessories, appliances and furniture, while preserving some features reminding of the old peasant tradition — like an old, large marble sink.

In front of the kitchen and the dining room, there is a very large, covered terrace, from where you can see the surrounding country and the gardens, listening to the continuous flow of the water falls and stream below. The same stream that gave water to the wheels of the old mill many years ago.

Beside the terrace, there is a barbecue, for family dining. In front of another kitchen door, there is the old wood stove, where the family cooks bread, pizzas and many other local recipes.

Description

Many years ago, this little house used to be a stable . It was the shelter for the mules used by the countrymen to transport olives, chestnuts, wheat or corn to the mill (today La Stregaia). The mules, in fact, were the sole means of transport for the people who lived here.

The old mule-track that joined the mill to the world, is still present, and today is used only for walks .

La Streghina, as the other houses in the property, has many shade trees, where you can relax in complete peace.

Description

This stone house, a heritage listed building according to the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities , was formerly the residence of the local blacksmith, who served the little villages that surround Bosco La Stregaia. During the renovation, which lasted for many years, we discovered many tools commonly used by blacksmiths like horseshoes, sledge-hammers and forges. We have preserved all the typical characteristics of this old Tuscan house.

La Streghetta has floors made of hard wood on the second level, and baked Tuscan tiles on the other floors of the house, which give a warm feeling.

A typical Tuscan kitchen, a lovely dining room, a small living room, and an entrance hall, with the stairs to reach the first floor, welcome our guests.

On the first level, there are two bedrooms, with Italian double beds, a bathroom with shower, and many windows for looking at the country.

From every window, there are views of the wonderful hills, and an 11th century Church, which is not very far from the property.

Behind the house there is a very large garden, with olive trees and a 150 year-old cherry-tree; there is also a barbecue and a large wooden table that seats 8 people.
